Fort Lauderdale Golf
In Fort Lauderdale, there is much to see and do. The popular resort town draws visitors from all over the world for it s beautiful beaches, warm gulf-stream waters, and, among other activities, its supreme golf courses. It helps that temperature in the winter hovers around 75 degrees, making a summer day of golf possible in January and February. If you are planning a visit to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Area and want to enjoy excellent golfing, consider a stay at one of the many resorts in the area that have their own courses, and are within miles of other prize courses as well. For a vacation to never forget, and if your budget is flexible, consider the secluded, upscale Turnberry Isle and Resort that is only minutes from Fort Lauderdale. Located in the little hide-away town of Aventura, this exclusive resort offers incredible amenities in addition to its two 18-hole golf courses.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, these courses are among the finest in the state, offering unusual challenges in their beautiful landscaping and fairways. The North Course is 6,403 yards with a par 70. The strong winds off the ocean make the entire course interesting. The South Course measures just over 7,000 yards, and offers an 18-hole to be anticipated with an island green that can make or break a score. Both courses have won several golf awards, including Links Magazine's Best of Golf Award.
The resort itself will astound you with its beauty and elegance. With almost 400 rooms (all with their own private balcony), and five on-site restaurants offering exquisite cuisine, you will feel like you are in paradise. At this resort, you will enjoy the private Ocean Club on the shores of the Atlantic with pristine beach, pool, cabanas, and various water sports. The Resort's new European Spa and Fitness Centre is an incredible facility whose three floors are connected by a spiral staircase. The Spa will offer Finnish saunas, Turkish steam rooms, whirlpools, cold plunge tubs, weight rooms, cardiovascular training rooms, and an aerobics studio. Also available at the resort are massages, 24 tennis courts, and a full-slip marina with more than 100 slips, capable of accommodating vessels up to 300 feet.
While this may sound quite grand, if you are looking for something better fitting your budget, consider staying at the Best Western Rolling Hills Resort, which will cost you much less but still offer a beautiful location, onsite golf, and close proximity to other courses. The resort has oversized rooms and suites, and the Waterfall Cafe in the atrium is filled with lagoons, waterfalls, and tropical ambiance. There are four lit tennis courts, a pool, Jacuzzi, and the complimentary shuttle service to local locations of interest will be quite handy for all members of your party. The Grande Oaks Golf Club is adjacent to the resort, and the Arrowhead Golf Club, Jacaranda Golf Club, Pembroke Golf Club, Raintree County Golf Club, Inverrary Country Club, and the Bonaventure Country Club are all very close, with the Bonaventure being the farthest away at ten miles.
